I am a PhD researcher within the lifestyle team working towards understanding the interplay between commonly prescribed pharmacotherapy in clinical practice and patient health outcomes such as physical activity, cardiorespiratory fitness and physical function. My work also broadly focuses on how these commonly prescribed therapies affect body composition in people with obesity and type 2 diabetes. I am also actively involved in studies such as DETA and Reset 4 Remission.

Favourite way to be active

Going to the gym regularly and playing sports such as tennis and golf.

Research Areas

Current Projects

  • Exploring the effects of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) and sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) on lean body mass in humans.

  • Investigating whether the prescription of dapagliflozin affects physical activity levels.

  • Investigating whether levels of physical activity, cardiorespiratory fitness, physical function and lean body mass predict the acute drop in glucose levels following the initiation of a low-calorie meal replacement diet in younger adults with type 2 diabetes.
