I gained a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Aberdeen in 2005 and then studied for an MSc in Sport and Exercise Nutrition at Loughborough University. Following this I remained at Loughborough and undertook a part time PhD alongside a Teaching Associate post. I then moved to be a Research Associate at Nottingham Trent University, and in 2013 I became a Lecturer there. I moved up to Senior Lecturer and Principal Lecturer and was the Undergraduate Courses Manager. I joined the Leicester Lifestyle and Health Research Group as an Associate Professor in Lifestyle Medicine in 2024.
