Alex Waddell
I joined the Lifestyle & Health Research Group in 2026 as a Research Associate, focussing on protein and muscle metabolism in the context of lifestyle and pharmacological interventions. Prior to this, I undertook a postdoctoral role at the University of Birmingham, exploring how novel therapies affect skeletal muscle metabolism. I completed my PhD at Coventry University in 2024, where I focussed on the use of remotely monitored exercise programmes for patients with symptomatic peripheral artery disease. I am mainly interested in translational physiology research, that explores both how lifestyle interventions can impact those with chronic diseases, and by what mechanisms they do so.
Favourite way to be active
