I research how to optimise nutrition for improved health. My work focusses on how nutrient timing (such as intermittent fasting), affects appetite, physical activity, sleep, and metabolism. I am interested in how nutrition can be used to alter the metabolic response to exercise, and how this modifies chronic disease risk. I also research the nutraceutical turmeric as a method to reduce pain and inflammation.
I joined the Diabetes Research Centre as an Associate Professor in 2025, having completed my PhD and Post-Doctorial research at Loughborough University (2012-2017), and progressed from Lecturer to Associate Professor at Nottingham Trent University (2017-2025).
